ADVOCATING for our clients
ameriCARE Mid-Atlantic believes that everyone can benefit from an extra set of eyes and ears when it comes to our client’s health. Our caregivers can help clients and their families develop questions and record answers to ensure pertinent information is gained from interactions with healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, physical therapists, etc.) We feel that it is critical to ensure needs are being met and that the most is made of the time spent with their healthcare team.
Examples of health advocacy services include:
- Assist with transportation to and from medical or other health related appointments
- Assist with asking treatment-related questions clients and/or families have when at appointments
- Taking notes at appointments to ensure treatment related decisions are clear and understood
- Encouraging clients to advocate for themselves in these important settings
